Formed in 1955 as a small, family business, three generations have continued the values of quality and excellence from the company origins. Founded and headquartered in Indiana, our work extends to much of the Midwest and beyond serving the aviation, gaming, healthcare, higher education, restaurant, utility providers, and public sectors. our leadership
Harmon Construction, Inc., located in North Vernon, Indiana, has been a general contracting business since 1955 when William D. Harmon started the company as a part-time venture. In 1969, he resigned from the B & O Railroad after 25 years of service to operate the company on a full-time basis. His development of a full-time “total customer service” company was given a boost when his two sons, Bill and Tom, added their full participation in management and operation of the business in the early 1980’s.
Bill attended the University of Louisville on a basketball scholarship. Upon graduation, he worked two years for a major construction firm before joining the family business. He is also a graduate of the Indiana Training Institute Construction Management Program.
Tom received his BS degree from Indiana University and an MBA in marketing from the University of Louisville. He then spent seven years working for Cummins Engine Company in marketing and administration.
Bill’s son Willie has now joined the firm, becoming the third generation to lead the company. Willie worked part-time at Harmon Construction and Harmon Steel throughout high school and college before joining the business full-time. He attended the University of Phoenix and received a degree in business administration. For the last decade, Willie has been operations manager, and most recently President of sister company Harmon Steel. In recent years, Willie has split time transitioning to a larger presence at Harmon Construction, Inc. where he serves as a corporate officer and is integral in building customer relationships and a guiding role for project selection.
As Harmon Construction begins its third generation of family leadership, this combination of experience and professionalism continues to fuel our reputation for quality work and reliable service.
